Marketing Monday: Driving Traffic to Shops

Bike Tire Key Fob

I read this post over the weekend about
6 Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Gallery.
I just dropped off some work on consignment yesterday,
and I thought it was very relevant for that, too.
After all, I do want my work to sell!
The shop is a pop up shop - opening for only 2 months.
Any extra marketing the artists can do will really help the owners
toward their goal of making the shop a longer term retail venture.

While I do not have a mailing list (I really should),
I'll be dropping off some of the shop's postcards at other local businesses.
I'll be tweeting, posting on Facebook, and blogging.
The shop is having an opening event in a couple of weeks, so I'll be there. But don't expect to see me in any videos :)

Marketing Monday: Ask Buyers How They Found You

Advertising and marketing are not an exact science.
A marketing executive might try to argue,
but in reality, no one can say
why people buy what they do, when they do.

A recent post on Etsy Business Tips can help sellers
determine where they buyer may have come from:

How does this help you?
If you can determine where your buyers are from,
you can more appropriately budget your advertising dollars.
Perhaps your buyer is responding to an ad.
Which ad? You can determine what ads work.
Perhaps your buyer is a referral from another customer?
If you have many of these, perhaps you could offer
a referral discount code for that original customer.

Knowing where your buyers are coming from
could be the key to more sales for your shop!

advertising

ad·ver·tis·ing: the action of calling something to the attention of the public especially by paid announcements

If you are on the Etsy Trashion Team, you know the rikrak studio and Kristal.
I placed my first ad on her blog. (she even designed it for me!)

Advertising is necessary for promoting your product.

The how and where are important to determine to get the most out of your ad.

Advertising should make you want to look, shop and buy!

How you determine where to advertise should be based on
your product, your message, your customer, and your budget.
